Sensible modifications. Did not know you could get aftermarket ECUs for 1980s Porsches. Last 1 I had was a 1987 Porsche 928S4 and before that a 1981 Porsche 928. I always feared the ECU solder points would detach and brick the ECU. At that time you could send them into a Chicago outfit to remanufacture but I never knew of modern solid state replacements. Thanks!

I'm not sure how Nissan lost its way. The Z cars were great, and the Maximas up until 2003 were sleeper road rockets with legendary engines. That said, they lost me when they had the butterfly intake issue where the screw would back out, get sucked into a cylinder and wreck and engine. Yup, not a warranty issue... and I think around 2004 there started a culture thing within the company that has just gotten worse. Interestingly, around this time Honda caught the virus and made absolutely crap cars - minivans, sedans, including Acuras. Now we have Honda moving to the turbo charged 1.5L direct inject engine that has oil contamination problems. Honda swears it won't be an issue, but when I read that, it made it easy for me to purchase a naturally aspirated RAV4. As the other poster noted, they need to wake up.

In America, 70% of generated electricity comes from coal. The burning of coal to produce electricity has an 18% efficiency rating. Diesel engines are 30-33% efficient. The Europeans did require the kind of emission standards we do in America. The manufactures wanted to make cheap cars & the diesel engines didn't have the optimized fuel metering that would control smoke. Plus, no one was keeping the engines properly maintained. It wasn't the engine, it was the attitude. But now the engine gets blamed. Yep, sounds like France...for one.

Talked to the customer, original owner, he took good care of his car and it showed. This goes for most other vehicles, you take care of them and they take care of you.

Hey Scotty I really like your vids! I got a '12 Q5 with 117000 Km on it. The previous owners didnt do much maintenance on it besides changing the oil and filter. So i decided to go ahead and change out the sparks, all the filters, changed out the oil, timing belt. Just the basic stuff that probably are worn out. Now, when I drove on the highway I notice there was some minor hesitation and jerking when I accelerated 60 km/hr up. What do you think is the problem?

Only had 2 replace the camshaft position sensor and never any issues with the car oh and had the passenger side floor board issue that wasn't a real issue for me because nothing ever actually happened(my foot didn't go thru the floor board lol). The 2005 altima had nicer materials plus if your engine blew because of any issues that caused the engine 2 gernade with early qr engines nissannwould replace it for free! I never had that issue though.

I dnt see any serious problems with this Altima. The bad paint is from the user, not the car. I've seen lots of Toyota, Honda with broken door handles. The steering rack leaks can be fixed by changing the seals, o-rings and pipes, same as the engine seating. The O2 sensor can be changed or ignored, the car will still run great. I have an 2004 Maxima with the Jatco 4spd auto, and i love it so much. These older Nissans really aint that bad.

I went to mechanic and he says that it might be weak battery as it's quite old but that doesn't make much sense to me. The car starts just fine every time. It cannot be the wires as well as he tested my fan through obd connection with his laptop and the fan worked just fine..
